Gosar & Trump Attack Milley

From Lauren Sforza's 9-25-23 THE HILL article entitled "GOP’s Gosar Suggests Milley Should Be ‘Hung’ for Jan. 6 Response":

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) suggested Sunday that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley should be “hung” for his response to the Jan. 6, 2021, riots at the Capitol.

In a newsletter Sunday, Gosar offered his thoughts on the testimony from former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund to the House Administration Committee last week. Gosar said that Sund, who was the chief at the time of the attacks, had requested national guard assistance but claimed it was “delayed” by Milley.

“But even after approval was given, General Milley, the homosexual-promoting-BLM-activist Chairman of the military joint chiefs, delayed,” Gosar wrote. “Of course, we now know that the deviant Milley was coordinating with Nancy Pelosi to hurt President Trump, and treasonously working behind Trump’s back.”

“In a better society, quislings like the strange sodomy-promoting General Milley would be hung,” he added, also calling Milley a “traitor.”

Gosar’s comments follow former President Trump’s post on Milley from last week, in which he accused the top general of going behind his back to talk to Chinese counterparts — an apparent reference to calls Milley made to reassure China near the end of Trump’s term.

“This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH! A war between China and the United States could have been the result of this treasonous act,” Trump wrote.

Retired Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling told CNN that the violent rhetoric from Gosar and Trump toward Milley is “disgusting.”

“This proposed violence by any political figure is disgusting, shows how deeply disturbed both of these individuals are,” Hertling said.

Kenn Thomas, R.I.P. (1958-2023)

From Loren Coleman's 9-24-23 obituary for author/editor/publisher Kenn Thomas:

St. Louis area resident and author Kenn Thomas, born June 12, 1958, passed away on September 22, 2023. He was a former university librarian and archivist, and a conspiracy writer, and editor/publisher of Steamshovel Press, a parapolitical conspiracy theory magazine.

Kenn was a friend of many writers, including Jim Keith, Greg Bishop, Jim Martin, Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, Adam Parfrey, Mae Brussell, Tim Binnall, Kevin Nealon, Ron Bonds, Stephen Miles Lewis, Robert Sterling, and, me, Loren Coleman [...].

Thomas wrote over a dozen books on various conspiracy topics, including NASA, Nazis & JFK; Maury Island UFO, about the possibility that Fred Crisman was connected to the assassination of John F. Kennedy; and The Octopus: Secret Government and the Death of Danny Casolaro, about the Inslaw affair. In 2004, Feral House published a new edition of The Octopus, extending the suggestion of connections to the post-September 11 attacks world and al-Qaeda. A new edition of Maury Island UFO was published by Feral House in 2011 as JFK & UFO: Military-Industrial Conspiracy and Cover-Up from Maury Island to Dallas.

Thomas called his research interest "parapolitics," the study of conspiracies of all colors—from alien abductions and the Illuminati, to the John F. Kennedy assassination and the September 11, 2001 attacks. The New Yorker called his work "on the cutting edge" of conspiracy.

I'd like to point out that Kenn Thomas published one of my early articles in the pages of STEAMSHOVEL PRESS. Upon its quiet debut in 1992, STEAMSHOVEL PRESS quickly rose to the top tier of 1990s DIY zines. At some point in the late 1990s, Kenn and I corresponded via mail about our shared love of Jack Kirby, and we chatted briefly in person one night at the Midnight Special Bookstore on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica where he signed books for his many fans and delivered a well-received lecture about Maury Island, the mysterious and ubiquitous Fred Lee Crisman, and the hidden history of UFOs. Above all, I highly recommend checking out his nonfiction book THE OCTOPUS (co-written with the late Jim Keith). Rest In Peace, Kenn!

Announcing DEAD MONKEY RUM!

Today marks the publication date of my new novel, DEAD MONKEY RUM. You can order the book RIGHT HERE!!!

A mixture of urban fantasy and Los Angeles noir, DEAD MONKEY RUM revolves around a stolen Tiki idol that contains the ashes of visionary artist Stanislaw Szukalski. Our heroes, an alcoholic monkey named Robert Mclintlock and a beautiful bartender named Stephanie Waterfall, must locate the missing statue in the wilds of Los Angeles before a tribe of pissed-off Yetis can get their massive, dirty paws on it. Because the obsidian idol possesses magical properties, the cryptozoological beasts intend to use it to kickstart the destruction of the entire human race.

DEAD MONKEY RUM is an alcohol-fueled voyage through the heart of Los Angeles. This tumultuous odyssey amidst the Tiki bars, illicit casinos, exclusive hotels, trains, buses, and hidden tunnels and grottoes that lay beneath the City of Angels propels our hero, Robert McLintock (who just so happens to be a wiseacre simian conman from a small island called Koshima located off the coast of Japan), from his comfort zone in Orange County, into the violent byways of Hollywood, and far beyond Southern California to the Rano Rarako volcanic crater on the remotest island in the world, Rana Nui, also known as Easter Island, where our heroes ultimately engage in a final, fierce, knockout battle with an army of homicidal Abominable Snowmen for the control of Planet Earth.

"Robert Guffey's fantastic novel, DEAD MONKEY RUM, will at least bring your brain out of a coma, if not get your imagination off the couch. This is a thinly masked tribute/adventure to the late Stanislaw Szukalski and his boundless imagination. This book is a mental gymnasium."

-- Robert Williams (Visual Addiction, Hysteria in Remission, and Through Prehensile Eyes)

"A fantastically rich and entertaining piece of work with an original sharp edge."
-- Jim Woodring (writer/artist of Weathercraft, The Frank Book, and One Beautiful Spring Day)

"Stanislaw Szukalski would love DEAD MONKEY RUM. This novel is addictive like a heavy drug. Make space in your calendar to read it all."

-- Irek Dobrowolski (director of the Netflix documentary, Struggle: The Life and Lost Art of Szukalski)

"Yetis, Tiki Gods, Cryptozoology, and rum-filled adventure! Sign me up and tell me when the ship sails! I'm recommending this Robert Guffey novel to all my friends, family, and foes to take their minds completely off whatever they are thinking about. Wonderful."

-- Loren Coleman (Mysterious America, The Field Guide to Lake Monsters and Sea Serpents, The Field Guide to Bigfoot, Curious Encounters, and 40 other books - Director of the International Cryptozoology Museum)

"DEAD MONKEY RUM succeeds at being a pursuit thriller, with suspense and tension as the monkey and Stephanie evade their cryptid enemies, and comedy as the two exchange jabs at each other. It is cinematically fast. DEAD MONKEY RUM should be adapted to a [...] Ralph Bakshiesque animated film where both the zaniness of the narrative and the latent satire would really flourish."
