Melinda Leslie on THE FENTON PERSPECTIVE
I recommend listening to Melinda Leslie's 6-24-19 interview on Lorien Fenton's THE FENTON PERSPECTIVE in which Leslie discusses the labyrinthine history behind what she calls "document-gate," which refers to a batch of recently leaked documents hailing from the secret archives of the Advanced Theoretical Physics Working Group, a conglomeration of military and scientific intelligence officers with an intense interest in the UFO phenomenon extending back to 1985. Leslie explains the possible significance of these documents to the field of ufology (and beyond). Most importantly, she shares her opinion on the possible motives that led to the documents being leaked in the first place.
You can view the most important document, Eric Davis' notes on his 10-16-02 meeting with Admiral Thomas Wilson (retired deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency), by following this link: THE ADMIRAL THOMAS WILSON DOCUMENT.

Bela Lugosi in the Magic Kingdom!
During a recent visit to the Magic Kingdom in Anaheim, I learned that a disparate variety of peculiar entities have been enthralled by the undeniable power of my latest book, BELA LUGOSI AND THE MONOGRAM NINE (written in collaboration with Gary D. Rhodes).
As you can see, The White Rabbit himself has been stunned into a paralytic state by the unparalleled depth of the scholarly research in BELA LUGOSI AND THE MONOGRAM NINE....
Mickey Mouse, too, has been frozen into insensibility by the powerful revelations contained within these hermetic pages....
Even the spectral Ghost Host (condemned to guard the Gothic gates outside The Haunted Mansion for all eternity) was quickly entranced by the dark, hypnotic allure emitted by the prose contained within....
Don't miss your opportunity to be rendered equally speechless by the esoteric mysteries unveiled between the covers of BELA LUGOSI AND THE MONOGRAM NINE. Order a copy right HERE, right NOW!
Read what the reviewers are saying about BELA LUGOSI AND THE MONOGRAM NINE:
"BELA LUGOSI AND THE MONOGRAM NINE, by Gary Rhodes and Robert Guffey, critically and wonderfully examines a series of no-budget films made by no-budget Monogram Studios in the 1940s featuring Lugosi that are among the most wonderfully odd cinematic follies ever made--surrealistic, straight from the subconscious, sometimes stupid, at moments seeming to spring from the mind of Bunuel, and in the next, an idea Ed Wood would have discarded as too unbelievable. But, movies always unlike any others, and at their best seeming like fever dreams through which Lugosi calmly walks in evening clothes carrying a flaming blowtorch. I highly recommend this book."
--JACK WOMACK, author of RANDOM ACTS OF SENSELESS VIOLENCE, LET'S PUT THE FUTURE BEHIND US, and ELVISSEY
"Above all, the essays contained herein are fashioned with loving care. Now I certainly don't need anyone to tell me why I enjoy certain movies. But man, I love when someone presents all kinds of new angles and approaches and elements I hadn't thought of, and next thing I know I'm seeing a film with new eyes, even though I've seen it numerous times."
--LARRY BLAMIRE, writer/director of THE LOST SKELETON OF CADAVRA, TRAIL OF THE SCREAMING FOREHEAD, THE LOST SKELETON RETURNS AGAIN, and DARK AND STORMY NIGHT (from his introduction to BELA LUGOSI AND THE MONOGRAM NINE)
"It would require an enthusiastic writing team such as Gary Rhodes and Robert Guffey to bring respect and probing inquiry to these Lugosi films from Monogram Studios. Are the films minor miracles or minor masterpieces? This book is food for thought in that area. For too long, 'the nine' was considered throw-away entertainment. Watch it once, then forget it. The authors of this book demur [...]. I encourage every monster fan to get this book. You’ll love it. The treasure chest of Monogram classics is shown knowledgeable evaluation and context at long last."

“An extraordinary volume. Rhodes and Guffey refract these films through the lens of surrealism,
detailed genre study, auteurist-informed close readings, star studies, and
vigorous historicism to name a few of the kaleidoscope of methods employed.
This book provides a breakthrough model for serious work on films that have to
date received very little scholarly attention.”
– MICHAEL LEE, Ph.D. (University of Oklahoma), editor at the journal HORROR STUDIES
"Containing
several chapters offering different variations on its subject matter,
Rhodes and Guffey explore the films Lugosi made at Monogram with an
open-minded approach, an intelligent appreciation, and a historical
knowledge. Even those of us long familiar with these films will be
enlightened by the further information provided in these essays [...]. The
reader's understanding of film history, production, and promotion will
be enhanced by this exceptionally intelligent text.
"BELA LUGOSI AND THE MONOGRAM NINE is a book that needs to be included in any library, research center, or personal collection that even hopes to be considered at all comprehensive. For fans of film history, of Lugosi, of the horror genre, or of B movies, BELA LUGOSI AND THE MONOGRAM NINE is an absolute must."

“Gary Rhodes has become my favorite nonfiction author, while
the subject of some of his writings, Bela Lugosi, has long been one of my
favorite actors. Now Gary has teamed up with co-author Robert Guffey to
present, for the first time, a collection of in-depth and insightful essays
evaluating those lesser ‘classics’ that comprise the so-called ‘Monogram Nine.’
If you are a Lugosi fan and also a fan of old ‘B’ horror films, you will love
this book.”

THE MAILER REVIEW VOL. 11 HAS NOW BEEN UNLEASHED!
The latest edition of THE MAILER REVIEW (VOLUME 11) has just been released. This issue contains my short story "The Faggot Police," which is based on something that actually happened to me and my friends back in high school. The title, in case you're wondering, was a mantra/tagline/motto/battle cry dreamed up by a gang of testosterone-poisoned, homophobic, Freshmen football players who would roam the hallowed halls of Torrance High back in that foul Year of Our Lord 1988, looking for "freaks" to harass and beat up. That particular year, my friends and I were chosen to be the sacrificial lambs. All the delightful madness is chronicled in the story. If you're at all interested, you can buy a copy of THE MAILER REVIEW VOL. 11 right HERE.
(Cryptoscatology fans, take note: My BELA LUGOSI AND THE MONOGRAM NINE coauthor, Gary D. Rhodes, has a new poem entitled "Riveted" published on the page right before my contribution to this very same volume.)

The Jeffrey Epstein Experience
The Cryptoscatology "Most Improbable Suicide of the Year" Award (2019) has its first nominee! What follows is an excerpt from Arthur Villasanta's 8-11-19 International Business Times article entitled "Jeffrey Epstein Death: Suicide Is 'Impossible', Says Former Inmate":
To read Villasanta's entire article, click HERE.
To learn more about the peculiar circumstances surrounding (and leading up to) Jeffrey Epstein's death, check out the following sources:

"Aircraft N-number N474AW Shared by Jeffrey Epstein, DynCorp, the State Department and the CIA"
The
crazy circumstances surrounding the suicide of child molester and
pedophile Jeffrey Epstein now has to contend with a new allegation he
couldn’t have committed suicide.
Epstein
was an inmate at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in New York
City operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBP). He was jailed at
the MCC following his arrest on July 6 on federal charges having to do
with the sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York.
Epstein
hung himself in his cell, which he was supposed to have shared with
another inmate. He was found dead by guards at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 10.
An ex-con once imprisoned at the MCC told The New York Post’s Brad
Hamilton and Bruce Golding, “There’s no way that man could have killed
himself. I’ve done too much time in those units. It’s an impossibility.”
This
informant spent several months in the 9 South special housing unit for
high-profile prisoners such as Epstein. He was awaiting trial at the
time.
He
revealed the height from the floor to the ceiling “is like eight or
nine feet. There’s no way for you to connect to anything. You have
sheets, but they’re paper level, not strong enough. He (Epstein) was 200
pounds -- it would never happen,” asserted the former inmate.
The
man said that when an inmate’s on suicide watch, he’s dressed in a
white smock, basically a straight jacket, because guards know a person
can be injurious to himself.
He ruled out the notion Epstein hung himself while standing on his bed.
“No sir. There’s a steel frame, but you can’t move it. There’s no light fixture. There’s no bars.”
He
also claimed there isn’t enough stuff inside a cell that can
“successfully create an instrument of death. You want to write a letter,
they give you rubber pens and maybe once a week a piece of paper.
Nothing hard or made of metal.”
He said he didn’t believe Epstein “had a cellmate. He was too blown up.”
The psychological damage a prison of this type can inflict on the minds of inmates is immense.
“It’s
like you’re an animal and you’ve been brought into a kennel. A guy like
Jeffrey, it’s like, ‘Holy sh-t.’ I told my parents not to come there.
God wasn’t in the building.”
More disturbingly, the man said if the guards see that a guy is breaking, “they’re going to help you break. But it’s my firm belief that Jeffrey Epstein did not commit suicide. It just didn’t happen.”

"FBI: Conspiracy Theories Are a New Domestic Terrorism Threat"
Courtesy of Yahoo News comes Jana Winter's 8-1-19 report entitled "Exclusive: FBI Document Warns Conspiracy Theories Are a New Domestic Terrorism Threat":
The
FBI for the first time has identified fringe conspiracy theories as a
domestic terrorist threat, according to a previously unpublicized
document obtained by Yahoo News.
The
FBI intelligence bulletin from the bureau’s Phoenix field office, dated
May 30, 2019, describes “conspiracy theory-driven domestic extremists,”
as a growing threat, and notes that it is the first such report to do
so. It lists a number of arrests, including some that haven’t been
publicized, related to violent incidents motivated by fringe beliefs.
The
document specifically mentions QAnon, a shadowy network that believes
in a deep state conspiracy against President Trump, and Pizzagate, the
theory that a pedophile ring including Clinton associates was being run
out of the basement of a Washington, D.C., pizza restaurant (which
didn’t actually have a basement).
“The
FBI assesses these conspiracy theories very likely will emerge, spread,
and evolve in the modern information marketplace, occasionally driving
both groups and individual extremists to carry out criminal or violent
acts,” the document states. It also goes on to say the FBI believes
conspiracy theory-driven extremists are likely to increase during the
2020 presidential election cycle.
The FBI said another factor driving the intensity of this threat is “the uncovering of real conspiracies or cover-ups involving illegal, harmful, or unconstitutional activities by government officials or leading political figures.” The FBI does not specify which political leaders or which cover-ups it was referring to.

Boleskine House Burns
From Joseph Laws' 8-1-19 Daily Mail article entitled "Ruined Home of Real-life Wicker Man and Notorious Satanist Aleister Crowley Is Torched By Arsonists Just Three Months After It Was Put Up for Sale for £500,000":
The home of a real-life 'Wicker Man' and former Satanist has been torched by arsonists near the shores of Loch Ness in Scotland just a week after a buyer was found.
Boleskine House in the Scottish Highlands was once the home of Aleister Crowley, who reportedly practised black magic there between 1899 and 1933.
The property was also owned by Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page from 1970 to 1992. The derelict house was put on the market in April this year for £510,000.
Police were called in after fires were spotted around 3.30pm yesterday at two buildings at the deserted site, including the derelict main house and at an external outbuilding.
The estate's main house has had its interior destroyed by the fire and police believe the fires were deliberately started by arsonists.
Firefighters extinguished the blazes, and nobody was injured, although damage was caused to the buildings.

The Disassociated States of America
What follow are further dispatches from the Dissociated States of America (a phrase coined by the late Walter Bowart, author of OPERATION MIND CONTROL)....
From Shepard Ambellas' 8-3-19 Intellihub article entitled "El Paso Walmart Shooting Witnesses Saw 'Three to Four Armed Men Running In... Dressed in All Black... Shooting'":
Twenty people were killed at a Walmart in El Paso Texas on Saturday reportedly by the hands of a single suspected gunman who was identified by various news sources as Patrick Crusius, 21, of Allen, Texas. However, information received by Intellihub may tell a different story.
Remarkably, several eyewitnesses to the shooting, a mother and her daughter, were captured on video recounting how three men dressed in all black entered through the front doors of the store as the shooting started.
“That’s when my mom is like ‘no it is actually shooting’ and she saw three men went in and they were all dressed in black,” a young girl named Britney explained. “…that’s when my mom said ‘drop down, go down to the floor.'”
Britney admits that neither she nor her mom actually saw anyone shot or wounded but said the three men were, in fact, holding guns and acknowledged the men were shooting.
Britney’s mother Adriana was near the checkout area at the front of the store with both her children when the shooting started and claims to have seen three or four male shooters dressed in black enter through the front doors.
“As we were waiting to pay, I saw men run in shooting,” she said. “There was at least three or four people… they were dressed in black.”

Eating the Fantastic with Mark Evanier and Gerry Conway
Scott Edelman's excellent science fiction podcast EATING THE FANTASTIC (the spiritual successor to Mike Hodel's HOUR 25 in terms of its in-depth questions that only another writer could possibly think to ask as well as in its informal, peripatetic approach to the art of the interview) recently celebrated its 100th episode by producing an informative and entertaining sit-down with writer and historian Mark Evanier, co-creator of CROSSFIRE, DNAGENTS, FANBOY, and HOLLYWOOD SUPERSTARS, co-writer of GROO THE WANDERER, author of the definitive Jack Kirby biography, KIRBY: KING OF COMICS, and writer of a gazillion network television shows. There are many lessons in this interview for the budding professional writer. You can eavesdrop on this lunch, which took place at Canter's Deli in Hollywood in May of 2019, by clicking right HERE.
I also recommend listening to Edelman's 99th episode, his interview with Gerry Conway, creator of THE PUNISHER, FIRESTORM, and a slew of other classic comic book characters. This interview, which was also recorded last May, can be heard by clicking HERE.
Of course, Scott Edelman is a fine writer himself, and I recommend checking out his latest collection of short stories, TELL ME LIKE YOU DONE BEFORE (AND OTHER STORIES WRITTEN ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS) (Lethe Press, 2018), which includes his marvelous tribute to Ray Bradbury, "The Final Charge of Mr. Electrico."
You can watch Edelman reading "The Final Charge of Mr. Electrico" at Balticon on May 27, 2018, directly below....
