From Lauren Sforza's 9-25-23 THE HILL article entitled "GOP’s Gosar Suggests Milley Should Be ‘Hung’ for Jan. 6 Response":
Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) suggested Sunday that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley should be “hung” for his response to the Jan. 6, 2021, riots at the Capitol. To read the entire article, click HERE.
I just received my contributor copies of Darrell Schweitzer's latest Lovecraft-themed anthology, SHADOWS OUT OF TIME. The anthology includes my epistolary story, "Toward a General Theory of Yithian Psychology," as well as tales by such writers as Gordon Linzner, Will Murray, Harry Turtledove, and Don Webb. Featuring a cover painted by award-winning artist Bob Eggleton, the anthology is available in paperback from PS Publishing (who also released my second book, SPIES & SAUCERS).
From Loren Coleman's 9-24-23 obituary for author/editor/publisher Kenn Thomas:
St. Louis area resident and author Kenn Thomas, born June 12, 1958, passed away on September 22, 2023. He was a former university librarian and archivist, and a conspiracy writer, and editor/publisher of Steamshovel Press, a parapolitical conspiracy theory magazine. To read the entire obit, click HERE.
I'd like to point out that Kenn Thomas published one of my early articles in the pages of STEAMSHOVEL PRESS. Upon its quiet debut in 1992, STEAMSHOVEL PRESS quickly rose to the top tier of 1990s DIY zines. At some point in the late 1990s, Kenn and I corresponded via mail about our shared love of Jack Kirby, and we chatted briefly in person one night at the Midnight Special Bookstore on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica where he signed books for his many fans and delivered a well-received lecture about Maury Island, the mysterious and ubiquitous Fred Lee Crisman, and the hidden history of UFOs. Above all, I highly recommend checking out his nonfiction book THE OCTOPUS (co-written with the late Jim Keith). Rest In Peace, Kenn!

"Stanislaw Szukalski would love DEAD MONKEY RUM. This novel is addictive like a heavy drug. Make space in your calendar to read it all."
-- Irek Dobrowolski (director of the Netflix documentary, Struggle: The Life and Lost Art of Szukalski)
"Yetis, Tiki Gods, Cryptozoology, and rum-filled adventure! Sign me up and tell me when the ship sails! I'm recommending this Robert Guffey novel to all my friends, family, and foes to take their minds completely off whatever they are thinking about. Wonderful."
-- Loren Coleman (Mysterious America, The Field Guide to Lake Monsters and Sea Serpents, The Field Guide to Bigfoot, Curious Encounters, and 40 other books - Director of the International Cryptozoology Museum)
"DEAD MONKEY RUM succeeds at being a pursuit thriller, with suspense and tension as the monkey and Stephanie evade their cryptid enemies, and comedy as the two exchange jabs at each other. It is cinematically fast. DEAD MONKEY RUM should be adapted to a [...] Ralph Bakshiesque animated film where both the zaniness of the narrative and the latent satire would really flourish."
