QAnon and End-Times Theology

From Bud Kennedy's 3-6-21 FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM article entitled "Trusting QAnon, Dallas Actor Wanted D.C. Riot to Bring End Times. Now He Faces Charges":

A year of YouTube fantasies about children being killed and eaten under cover of the “deep state” took the Highland Park-bred grandson of a former Texas football coach to the steps of the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6.

Luke Coffee, 41, the actor grandson of 1960s TCU and University of Texas assistant coach Russell Coffee, thought he was going to Washington for the second coming — but not of Donald J. Trump.

Based on his own words, Coffee was among Capitol attackers who went not as Proud Boys or Oath Keepers, but as QAnon activists confusing religion and conspiracy, hoping to impose Christian rule and trigger the biblical second coming of Christ.

“A holy purge is happening, and it’s only from Jesus — it’s not from Donald J. Trump,” Coffee said over and over in videos, some still posted on social media.

He faces charges in connection with the assault of Washington, D.C., police officers with a crutch during the attempted overthrow.

Dark Side of Wonderland

From Vanessa Thorpe's 2-28-21 GUARDIAN article entitled "Dark Side of Wonderland: Ahead of V&A Show, Book Explores Alice’s Occult Link":

Great art spawns imitation. And great weird art, it seems, spawns still weirder flights of fancy. Lewis Carroll’s twin children’s fantasies, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There have both inspired a string of adaptations, artistic and musical responses down the generations.

Now, as the Victoria & Albert Museum prepares to celebrate Alice and her cultural influence in Curiouser & Curiouser, a landmark exhibition next month, a new book containing unseen original images is to expose the secrets behind the darker world of the second Alice story.

“Together these books are really the first psychedelic texts and I like them because there’s no moral lesson. They actually parody authority, like the judiciary and the monarchy, rather than supporting them,” said Jake Fior, an Alice expert and author of Through a Looking Glass Darkly.

“Carroll had a definite interest in the esoteric. I have a catalogue of his possessions, including his library, and he had lots of books on the supernatural,” he told the Observer [...].

“There is no evidence that Carroll was practising magic, but he was interested in telepathy and was a member of the Society of Psychical Research. He also had a well known obsession with wordplay and especially acrostics, and these come from Hebrew mysticism, which he would probably have known,” said Fior.

While working on the book he found that although Carroll was not a Freemason, the Liddell family were very involved in the organisation.

The V&A exhibition, Fior suggests, will be a good opportunity for fans to go back to the darker side of the stories, something that the Disney cartoon version has almost obliterated.

SALON: "QAnon Followers Still Think Trump Will Be Inaugurated — on March 4 National Guard Will Be Ready"

Nearly 5,000 National Guard troops are expected to stay in Washington for at least another three weeks amid concerns over potential violence from QAnon adherents, some of whom believe former President Donald Trump will be inaugurated on March 4.

House Armed Services Chairman Adam Smith, D-Wash., cited QAnon chatter surrounding March 4 during a hearing this week with defense officials flagged by CNN.

"Some of these people have figured out that apparently 75 years ago, the president used to be inaugurated on March 4," Smith said. "Now why that's relevant, God knows. At any rate, now they are thinking maybe we should gather again and storm the Capitol on March 4 ... that is circulating online."

Pentagon official Robert Salesses said at the hearing that 4,900 National Guard troops will remain in D.C. through March 12 at the request of Capitol Police in response to "different missions" that the troops will support. He said there isn't a specific threat that the National Guard is tracking but the Pentagon will work with law enforcement agencies to evaluate any potential threats.

The Trump Organization appears to have taken notice of the chatter too. The Trump International Hotel in Washington has jacked up its room rates for March 3 and 4 by nearly $1,000, Forbes first reported. It was the only hotel in the nation's capital to increase rates for those days — and has not increased them on surrounding days. The hotel similarly raised its prices dramatically for Jan. 5 and 6, the dates around the deadly Capitol riot.

"They're Coming to Take Me Away Ho-ho Hee-hee Ha-haaa!"

From Haven Orecchio-Egresitz and Kelsey Vlamis' 1-29-21 INSIDER article entitled "Lawyer Lin Wood Says He Will Refuse a Mental Health Test and Threatens the Georgia State Bar as It Opens An Inquiry Into His Conduct":

A far-right, pro-Trump attorney who is at risk of losing his license to practice law posted to the alternative messaging app Telegram on Friday, saying he will refuse to take a mental health assessment the Georgia State Bar has requested.

L. Lin Wood, an Atlanta-based defamation lawyer, rose to infamy last year because of his role in former President Donald Trump's unhinged attempt to overthrow the election, and representing the teenager who shot three Black Lives Matter demonstrators during unrest over the summer.

He has been banned from Twitter after repeatedly spreading disinformation and conspiracy theories.

The city of Detroit had also previously called for Wood, and other lawyers involved in the election scheme, to be disbarred in Michigan and other states where they are licensed.

The State Bar of Georgia Chief Operating Officer Sarah Coole confirmed in an email to Insider that an inquiry pertaining to Wood is ongoing under a rule that says mental illness could be grounds for disbarment. She said the investigation process is confidential and did not provide further comment.

In a Telegram post on Friday afternoon, Wood said he would refuse the exam if it was formally requested of him.

"I am of sound mind and I have not violated any rule of professional conduct," he wrote.
