Last New Year's Eve, only a few minutes after the stroke of midnight, a massive eucalyptus tree (referred to by some arborists as the "widow maker" tree) toppled outside our bedroom window with no warning, hitting the precise spot where we normally park our car... so 2024 has already gotten off to a somewhat less dramatic start than 2023...
