Human Remains Discovered in Long Beach Multiple Times Since February

Human remains have been discovered in Long Beach, California three times during the past few weeks. In one incident a dead man was found floating in the marina, in another a corpse washed ashore between Alamitos Beach and Junipero Beach, and in still another a skull was uncovered by children during an Easter Egg Hunt...

1) Here's an except from a 2-24-26 ABC7.com report entitled "Boaters Find Body Floating Near Queen Mary in Long Beach; Investigation Underway":

An investigation is underway after two boaters say they found a man's body floating near the Queen Mary in Long Beach.

Officers responded to the report of a body in the water near Queensway Bay around 10:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Details were limited, but the boaters described the moment they spotted the body, saying they initially thought it was trash until they made out what appeared to be a back.

"It was actually pretty surreal. To think that you could find a dead body like that... like right outside of the marina in Long Beach - that's insane," one of them said.

Authorities say the body of the unidentified man had "no obvious signs of trauma."

2)  From Jacob Sisneros' 4-7-26 LONG BEACH POST article entitled "Human Skull Found During Easter Egg Hunt at Long Beach Park, Authorities Say":

Authorities say a child found a human skull in DeForest Park while hunting for eggs on Easter Sunday.

At about 4:48 p.m. on Sunday, a 911 caller reported that a child was looking for eggs along a dirt path in the park when they found the skull buried under the dirt, according to Long Beach police.

Officers responded to the scene and taped off a section of the dirt path, then contacted the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, police said.

Medical examiner staff went to the scene and determined Sunday night that they needed a forensic anthropology team to respond the next morning.

On Monday morning, that team recovered a “skeletonized human skull and mandible” from the dirt path adjacent to East Osgood Street, Kelly Vail, a spokesperson for the department, said in a statement.

No information was immediately available about the person’s age or identity.

3) From John Donegan's 4-14-26 LONG BEACH POST article entitled "Police Investigate After Man’s Body Washes Ashore in Long Beach":

The body of a man was found near the water’s edge on the Long Beach shoreline Tuesday, authorities confirmed.

Authorities have not yet identified the man, who was found on the shore in the 1900 block of E. Ocean Boulevard around 11:30 a.m., said a Long Beach police spokesperson. They estimated his age to be between 30 and 40 years old.

From a photo taken at the scene, the body appears to be that of a slim man, face down in the shallow water between Alamitos Beach and Junipero Beach, near the Pride lifeguard tower. Some debris is scattered around him in the surf.

Police say there are no signs of foul play, adding that an investigation is ongoing. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine how the man died.
